Heat.. Is it Spring still? Not by NC standards!

Its such a good thing I had the a/c fixed in my car a few weeks ago... I suppose that insane thing called "gas price" that keeps me home more than not is probably just as well because I sure don't wanna go out in THIS too much.
I have an interesting sight into my backyard.. things are MUCH greener than they were last year and well, an influx of water means things grow. I have this one particular "weed" in the grass that I haven't identfied yet, but it looks like these many "fingers" sprouting up from the grass which is a more normal height of say 3" or so, which will be needing a cut within the week. Cameron gets here and lops it all down every 2 weeks or so. Until then I have all these fingerts which reach at least a foot high, sort of reminiscent of ET, remember that extraterrestial? If I wait long enough, these ET fingers sprout these tiny yellow flowers at the top like a sunburst. They're about 1" in diameter which is funny seeing them on these stalks ranging from 1-2' tall. If one knows what dandelion flowers look like, that's the color of them and fairly similar flower shape. No, it does not turn into those familiar puffballs that the dandelions do!
Don't remember seeing them last year, but then again I had straw for lawn soo... the English Hawthorne finished blooming, the magnolia tree's are up but they don't all bloom at once. All these flower buds are on the trees but it seems like only 2-3 bloom at a time. Wonder if they have some internal timer system to stretch out the blooming season or something? Discovered that the one vine that has been slowly climbingh up on the portico blooms. Didn't see it last year but it's blooming now, it's full of these litte white five-pointed flowers - star shaped. They hang down and I think it's adorable!
I do have a peaceful view into the backyard from my desk. I think at any place I live, from now to the future, I'll always want to put my computer in front of a window. Odd things pass by and I enjoy seeing them and not be totally lost in a tiny little world called the computer screen. I have seen a woodchuck go through the yard, and I'd never seen one before! Had to go look it up, thought it was a beaver at first but minus the tail.
I've seen the hummingbirds already, I have a perfect view of the Rose of Sharon bush which they like. I saw a bird that I've never seen before, it was bright yellow, school bus yellow, with black on it's neck and wings. Searched for that one and discovered that its an American Goldfinch.
It's nice to see the wildlife!
